In a historic move, on August 9th 2023 the Rajya Sabha passed the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2023 (DPDPB)! 

On August 7th 2023 the Lok Sabha passed the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2023 (DPDPB)!  Union Minister for Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, introduced the DPDP Bill in the Lok Sabha on August 3.

The next steps for DPDPB Bill, 2023: The bill will now move on to the assent of Rajya Sabha and Presidential Review after successful passage in both Houses, the Bill lands on the desk of the Hon’ble President of India. Upon receiving Presidential assent, the Bill is officially published in the Gazette, cementing it as the law of the land.
